Reminds Me

Reminds Me

Seems like we have fewer rainy days than we use to.

Sitting at a traffic light during a recent rainstorm, everything reminded me  of being twelve years old. I think a few of the triggers were the darkness, the reflections in the wet pavement, the clicking of the turn signal, and the swishing of the back and forth wipers. It felt like I sat there in thought for a really long time.

When the traffic light finally gave me the right of way, I accelerated through the curve, turned up the radio, and returned to fifty-two.

Guiltless

Guiltless

After more than twenty-five years, I finally fell to the advertising pressure. I had a McRib for lunch today and enjoyed it more than I can find words for. Afterwards I spent the afternoon doing some Santa stuff and then treated my MINI to a detailed supreme carwash. With December only two days away, I took full advantage of the 73 degree day with the windows down, the roof open, and the music loud.

As the sun faded, I watched it set over homemade tacos for dinner. Damn, with all of the day's goodness and graces, I feel like I cheated the world. Guiltlessly.

Morning Warmth

Morning Warmth

Pita loves the morning sunlight. It warms her. I'm not so sure she gets it, but she does the exact same thing for me.

Once again my morning was filled with plenty to be thankful for. Pita, Fleetwood Mac's Penguin and Souther Hillman Furay's Trouble in Paradise on vinyl, warm socks, and sunshine are just a few that started my day even before I poured my second cup of coffee.

Pita and I just may have to take a ride in the truck, with the windows down, and drive in the direction of the sun. Bring on the day.
