My summers are metaphors filled with passions and the momentum to breathe. They’ve bookmarked my paths with fallen friends, first kisses, Saturdays, fast cars, and unforgettable lyrics. Time’s pace moves fast. I do what I can to keep up while not forgetting from where I came. The big sky often helps. It keeps me honest, reminding me of just how small I really am.
Like the old token filled shoebox I once kept in the bottom of my dresser when I was a little boy, I gather my favorite songs and mementos while tucking away the memories of the hands I once held and those who gently held mine in return. The sun warms my smiling face as I move forward, dusting myself off of summer.
