A Passing Glimpse

the promise for tomorrow by admin

Here's another one I've wanted to shoot for months. I'd hoped to one day capture this photo with extreme highlights and shadows from the afternoon sun. Today's overcast and diffused winter light added a

solemnness while the delicate snow countered the ruggedness of the abandoned.

I challenged my excessive multi-tasking skills today by taking my camera along with me on my six-mile walk/run route. This created quite the challenge for me. Stay focused on both task - exercising and taking photos.

I was finally able to manage both. However, my need to get the right image redirected my normal exercise route several times. My creative mind kept saying, "Hey... go over there. That light is damn nice!" followed by, "Whoa.... look at that".  It was invigorating, an exploration, and 26 degrees.

I've wanted to photograph this setting for months. I drive past it a few times everyday. I've always thought if I could catch the right light, it could be a really nice shoot. Today as I drove home from church, the setting welcomed me once again. The afternoon light was perfect. With my camera sitting beside me, I realized that today was the day I'd been waiting for.

During the months of wanting to shoot here, I never imagined I'd be doing so while wearing a suit and a tie, not to mention on a day when the wind chill was nearing 20 degrees. Lesson learned. Be prepared for the moment.

tattered. faded. torn. real. by admin

This is a prototype image of a series I'm beginning to explore. Denim will be the common theme. Some will be full figure pieces while others will have an unusually cropped and abstract quality. The use of negative space will be a primary concentration.
Tattered. Faded. Torn. Stained. Real. These are all things I want to celebrate in the images, both for the blue jeans and those folks wearing them. My hope is to display a pure and honest quality.

With this said, I'll need subjects and models. Real people and real jeans. If you and your favorite pair of blue jeans are interested, let me know. cheers.
