The evening's reward from Sunday's hurricane Irene clean up included my variation of E.A.T.'s Roasted Corn salad; fresh picked tomatoes, grilled and bbq'd pork, vidalia, pineapple, orange pepper, and mushroom shish kabobs; brown rice mexicana; hot tortillas; and cervesas of choice.
Let mother nature reign. Bon Appetit Irene!

A number of things stood out today that I usually miss in the routine of days.
· A handwritten letter expressed friendship.
· There was a dead snake in the middle of the road. I saw it just after noticing a white hair on my forearm.
· The strength of a wind blown American flag snapped crisply from high atop the pole.
· Leaning up against a roadside stand was a weathered plywood painted sign. The message read: Tomatoes 3 for $1.
· A passing stranger offered me a good morning greeting. I smiled and returned the sentiment.

Growing just outside my studio window are two sunflowers standing nearly ten feet tall. Orphaned from a few seeds I'd tossed into the soil several years ago, they peek through my window and smile on me and the pups.
