With a mug of freshly ground fair trade whole bean coffee and a chipped plate of warm baked oatmeal raisin cookies waiting near a flickering fireplace, I'm convinced that fine food does not require fine china.

I was asked today to define what motivates me in one sentence. After giving it some thought from a daily, lifelong, and spiritual aspect, I penciled in my answer.

Fourteen days into this new daily photo blog thing and I'm already thirty-one posts deep. My cameras have become as essential to my day as carrying my wallet. Come to think of it, they may even be more so. I always have them with me. We've become quite the trifecta. People are beginning to talk.
Thanks for following along and if you haven't done so, feel free to share the love of a passing glimpse.

An afternoon view from my third floor desk. If this blog had speakers, you'd be listening to the same song I heard upon posting. Jonatha Brooke, I'll Leave the Light On.
Ironic? ... not sure.
Stellar, heartfelt, soul searching, and reach inside to caress your heart type of tune? ...absolutely!

There are those rare days when the moment just wants to capture itself. For those brief times, all I need to do is raise the camera and frame the scene. This was one of those.
I've walked and driven past this very setting for years, but I've never seen this image. I'm not too sure what made today different. It just was.

I challenged my excessive multi-tasking skills today by taking my camera along with me on my six-mile walk/run route. This created quite the challenge for me. Stay focused on both task - exercising and taking photos.
I was finally able to manage both. However, my need to get the right image redirected my normal exercise route several times. My creative mind kept saying, "Hey... go over there. That light is damn nice!" followed by, "Whoa.... look at that". It was invigorating, an exploration, and 26 degrees.

It was a weekend of absorbing curiosities. Today I captured photos of the afternoon winter light draped across rusted hardware and dead grasses. Yesterday I spent the longest time watching shapes created as water boiled. I remember thinking to myself; you're watching water boil. Then I watched some more.

There isn't a time in my life when I haven't had a passion for automobiles. As a young boy, I'd often place my hand out the window as my father was driving. Then by shifting the angle of my hand ever so slightly, it would glide and slice through the air up and down while I made loud motoring sounds with my mouth. A few years later, I received my learner's permit and a big dose of independence. That day was thrilling.
The first car I ever owned had an AM radio with a single speaker mounted under the dash. It was fabulous. My next car had an 8-track tape player with big chrome buttons. Again, fabulous. Today I listen to quite a bit of public radio. I've always been strongly adamant about placing bumper stickers on my vehicles. Seems that time, age, or life have an unusual way of changing things. I've broken down and now sport a small, white Apple sticker in the lower left corner of my back window. Damn.
Time has changed alot of things, but I'm really not much different than that kid who drove around with my Dad. I'm looking forward to my drive home from the office later today. A few years may have passed since I made those loud motoring sounds, but I think today I may have to do it again, just before Led Zeppelin's D'yer M'ker is added to my westbound soundtrack. Once again... fabulous.
